Dr. Joanne Shinozaki was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She attended the University of California at Berkeley where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biopsychology while concurrently completing coursework for veterinary school. She went on to graduate from the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine where she soon realized that her passion was in small animal internal medicine. Dr. Shinozaki then completed a one-year rotating internship at Purdue University, followed by a three-year combined residency program in small animal internal medicine and a master of science degree at Washington State University.
Dr. Shinozaki is board-certified in small animal internal medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine which makes her a specialist. She enjoys all aspects of internal medicine, especially gastroenterology, immune-mediated diseases, and endocrinology. She has a Corgi mix and loves taking him to beaches and parks. She also enjoys hiking, yoga, and running as well as visiting art museums. Dr. Shinozaki’s goal is to work as a team with you and your primary care veterinarian to achieve the best possible outcome for your pet.
